EMI at Master in Arts and New Media - Universidad Europea de Madrid, Spain

In 2005 Kepa Landa, director of the Master in Arts and New Media invited David and Enrique to teach students about physical computing and interactive music systems. We used Arduino and Pure Data to explain our ideas about interactive design.

First, David explained how to use Arduino to interface the world during a week. Students were able to use sensors and connect them to the computer in a couple of hours. They finally used Arduino to work in some projects related with interactive design.

Next two weeks, Enrique introduced Pure Data and interactive music systems. During the first week students were able to understand digital audio principles and how to manage them with Pure Data. During last week, students proposed Enrique their own interactive projects to be developed. Most of them had to use Arduino to interface with sensors and also involved more technologies like Proccesing and Flash.

EMI were glad when Kepa Landa announced that the Master management wanted us to support the technical production of some of the final projects of students. We were working three hadr weeks to produce interactive sound installations, tangible experimental instruments and resampled mp3 players. Also we made some experimentation with digital sound properties.
